A Message from our Board of Directors

CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts, 24 January, 2022 – The Board of Directors of Tutoring Plus of Cambridge is pleased to announce the appointment of Jacey Buel as our new Executive Director, effective January 24, 2022.

Jacey was formerly Education Director and Vice President at The Possible Project, a Cambridge-based non-profit focused on advancing economic equity.  From 2001-2003 he served as a Tutoring Plus volunteer tutor.  He also previously held positions with Cambridge Public Schools and Cambridge based Transition House.  He is a graduate of Tufts University and Suffolk University Law School.

Jacey has a long history of involvement with the Cambridge community and is passionate about ensuring that every child receives the support they need to develop the skills to successfully navigate and positively influence our world. We are confident he will be an excellent leader for Tutoring Plus as we approach our 60th anniversary.

As we look to the future under Jacey’s direction, we want to recognize with great gratitude the inspired and inspiring seven-year leadership of our former Executive Director Kathryn Fenneman and to express our heartfelt appreciation to Interim Executive Director Diane Carson.

“We are thrilled to have Jacey joining our team as the new Executive Director,” says Tutoring Plus Board President Tseli Mohammed. “Jacey’s leadership experience and deep personal commitment to racial, economic and educational equity will ensure we continue steadily forward, and we are excited to work with him in service to our shared community.”

“I am honored to become a member of the Tutoring Plus team, an impactful, transformative organization that I have respected and admired for years,” says new Executive Director, Jacey Buel.  “As a volunteer with Tutoring Plus over 20 years ago, I envisioned an opportunity in the future to contribute to this incredible program.  Tutoring Plus’s free tutoring and enrichment programs provide an invaluable service, addressing the profound opportunity gap and advancing educational equity.  I will work tirelessly every day to ensure that Tutoring Plus continues its amazing work.”

We are deeply proud of the resilience demonstrated by our students, staff and volunteers over the past challenging years.  We look forward with confidence to Jacey’s leadership as we pursue our mission to advance educational equity by supporting youth in their academic, personal and social growth through free individualized tutoring, mentoring and enrichment programs.
